I step through the door Raise my hand to block the gleam Of this earthen sphere Becoming a clear blue stream As the landscape shifts away All the trees and houses fray Looming waves dissolve the street I am lifted off my feet I am washed away Those nearby are swept away from Everything they have known Ants washed out from tunnels and hills Writhe until they come upon a stone From this vantage they begin to see What it means to truly be I reach out my hand but they’ve Gone the way of the houses and trees Once a planet, now devoid Empty stream in ocean void Silent vein of blue in black I give up, float on my back Watching stars, ancient debris None of them aware of me Close my eyes and start to dream This is Earth, a forward stream

Grey Light 04:58
I’ve drifted far from the place where I began I never meant to wander Although I know I should turn back I’ll go on anyway Under the grey light Oh, see the glow Found only in rainy, iron days Oh, see the glow Held here in the silence of the light Oh, see the glow Underneath the window of your house Though there are those who feel burdened by the Grey It never weighed me down I’ve seen the way the light bends and swallows me As I lay beneath the trees
3.
Treeswell 05:03
Ancient land sprawling, empty, clear The distant cloud-bells had led me here Far removed from the social realm That endless noise that can overwhelm Quiet and calm, only the wind Dares to break the silence I know why I’ve been brought here- All I’m after is stillness I reach a hill I stare from it until I glimpse the world’s design I see all On this hill rests a single tree Its silent branches call out to me I lie against it and rest my eyes The stillness closes in from all sides As the years pass the low sky Begins to darken and weep Now I awake to sinking streams The rain begins to seep As the treeswell begins I hear a bell echo Through clouded sky Although it’s distant I still feel the pull looming I know it won’t be long now
4.
False Haven 05:08
There is a place where the stream never runs This hallowed haven where all is undone How can we move when we won’t leave this heat? Lost in the hearth, we’re doomed to repeat There is a house beyond the field It glows and calls me inside its silent walls The air is clear here, I feel a perfect harmony So tell me why I can’t shake this solemn, pensive chill Although I’d like to believe what I feel It’s a false haven that I can’t make real All of our lives we long for our youth But we forget that our minds shape the truth I won’t stay here Leave the hearth, leave the heat Leave the house, it’s incomplete And if you miss the haven’s glow Don’t despair, I know- Even when we’ve grown tired and old We’ll still have our false home

Overworld 01:47
“The spectacle was breathtaking. I could see a thunderhead boiling up above Flagstaff, Arizona, 350 miles to the west. I could make out Guadalupe Pass in Texas to the east. It was almost like a painting. I can’t really describe the feeling I had hanging there in that tiny gondola and seeing this magnificent planet set against the utter backdrop of outer space. I suddenly had a powerful and unfamiliar sense of my own remoteness from everything I cherished in life.” - Joseph Kittinger

Stratosphere 05:51
Aimless dust hearts are drawn towards the light I wander through the sky, staying out of sight Houses pass beneath, lit by those within I wonder how it feels Higher up now, losing the heat I start to lose my sight, drifting through cloud sheets Wind is blowing at everything we hold I can feel it slipping The calming light hides the doubt in its creases Its glow betrays what is held here beneath it Left alone in the stratosphere It should be simple but things are rarely clear Now it’s too late to take the long way down I have no choice this time The calming light hides the doubt in its creases Its glow betrays what is held here beneath it Although we use it to tether our pieces We can’t remain under it here in orbit Now revealed before the Earth There’s nothing left but to jump
7.
Torn asunder, bottled thunder roars Rust gathers on far off shores The sky opens to reveal more clouds Endless layers forming misty shrouds My water limbs and my fire hair Won’t help me move this earth through air A simple task, to move a stone But simple things aren’t easy alone Break It’s breaking It’s breaking my arms Clattering peaks calling steadily Endless paths reach from them to me Each one filled with countless stone debris Guess I’ll stick with the one I’m on
8.
All of these pieces are left here in the cold Beyond them, another stone lies in the road Finally I move this earth off to the side A brief pause, then I move forward with a sigh My hands rise, descend, and reprise All our lives, we reprise
9.
As I float through this glow Everything begins to fade and slow From the view on this hill I can see a hearth standing so still Over world, over sky Over all in orbits tight and shy I accept what I’m shown I accept I’ll always face the stone I’m not dead, I’m mislead Left to my wandering mental threads Reverse tectonics, bring me back to clearer, solid ground Even ants find their peace Knowing that when their lives cease They’ll have found meaning in everything they’ve accomplished I step through the door Raise my hand to hold the gleam Of this glowing sphere And the light it’s given me
